Courtesy Posting: CODE RED DEADLINE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12TH EOD AT BAKERSFIELD, CA (CENTRAL CALIFORNIA)- KERN COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES - RESCUE ONLY CHOW LAB LIKE X 'ROCKY' FRIENDLY WITH PEOPLE AND VERY GOOD W/ MANY OTHER DOGS AS SEEN IN VIDEO, BUT GOT INTO A SCUFFLE WITH A LARGER DOG AND IS NOW RESCUE OLY ON A SHORT DEADLINE - AND WILL BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT A COMMITMENT - ID #a 1210680 - NEEDS IMMED RESCUE AND THUS ALSO A FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT TO SAVE HIS LIFE VERY HANDSOME FRIENDLY MAN TO PEOPLE AND MANY DOGS IN PLAYYARD, WAS EVEN SUBMISSIVE, AS SEEN IN VIDEOS WE JUST OBTAINED, FOUND AS A STRAY. WILL DIE. The Kern shelter reached out to us originally when this adorable boy came in and they named in Rocky hoping to find him a good home. He is estimated to be 6 years young, healthy, and did so well in the playgroup with many other dogs his size, allowing them to sniff him all over. At some later point however in the playgroup, after a handler gave a dog correction with a spray bottle, this seemed to trigger Rocky to go after a larger dog standing near the handler and him however. Perhaps he thought he needed to protect the handler from that dog, it's very unclear but we do have the video we can text if you want to view it? That larger dog did not fight back, yet Rocky still wanted to get to him. As a result, the shelter made Rocky Rescue only and he is now on a very short deadline. We have the video to text to anyone who wants to see it. Rocky needs rescue and thus also a foster asap. This means he cannot be adopted through the shelter by the public, one must go through a rescue group before this time.
