Hey there, everyone! My name is Big Mur, and I'm a sweet, friendly, and gentle 50-pound red Australian Kelpie mix fella with a white bib who was born about April 2023. I'm a lover-boy because I get along with everyone - adults, kids, and other dogs. In case you're not familiar with Australian Kelpies, we're an alert, highly intelligent, eager-to-please breed that was developed to herd sheep. We have lean, athletic bodies and short, easy-care coats. We're renowned as being excellent family dogs who get along well with kids and live peaceably with other family pets. We thrive on hooman companionship and, since we were bred to work with inexhaustible energy, we require daily exercise to keep us mentally and physically fit. Interactive playtime with balls/ sticks or walks with our hoomans can fill the bill on both of those counts. I was found abandoned and running the mean streets of Houston with no collar, tags, or chip. No telling how long I'd been a stray because I tested positive for heartworms. No worries! I'm already undergoing treatment, and Miss Donna will pay to complete my treatment. Thank heavens that I was rescued, that I'm safe in my foster home, and that Miss Donna will find me a forever home. (Incidentally, I recently heard her tell someone, 'Big Mur is the sweetest that can be!!' I'm anticipating a wonderful family who will let the light of my endearing personality shine everywhere.
