Walter was bought from a breeder as a puppy, and was my husbands family dog for many years, till his mother got sick with heart failure then cancer. They could no longer care for the dog so we took care of him when she went on hospice care, thinking he would go back to that home eventually. That has not happened, and we have less and less time to take care of him as we just had a baby. He needs more care than we can give him, and it would be great for him to be partially inside as he gets older. We live in a mild climate, but he is old and loves the comfort of inside. We have left him outside, as he seems to do better with that- he does not get confused about who is alpha this way. He has problems with allergies and ear infections due to us moving into a new area that's loaded with ongoing construction. He also has these issues because of his breed. He couldn't used to handle being groomed, but now after working with him at home the past several years, he is able to go to the groomer without any issues or needing any type of medication. No other known health problems. Is aggressive if human food is around or given frequently. We do not give any human food- just his dog food and treats. He sits and plays fetch, and lives for his almost daily walks. He handles being around other dogs if off the leash- when in the leash he tugs and barks- but will not attack or bite. Does well at dog parks, with cats and with kids and people. We just can't take care of him the way he needs, and he never got to go back to his original home. Hoping he will find the perfect home. He is a quirky lil guy that will bring the right family so much joy.
