Hank is a GSD mix we adopted from a shelter in the height of covid restrictions. We do not know the type of dogs that the parents were, but one was definitely Shepherd as Hank has the sleek body and black and tan markings of a black GSD. He is neutered. Hank is an anxious, but loving and affectionate dog. He needs to be placed into a single dog home setting. He is a velcro attached dog to his humans. He does not do well sharing attention or food with other dogs. He has shown food aggression and jealousy with his littermates, but not with humans. He has not been around children or cats, but his prey drive is high and I would not suggest it. Hank has recently completed a 9 month in home training program with a private dog training company and knows many commands, walks well on leash with a prong collar, has decent recall, and rides great in cars. He is house trained. He will alert you to his needed potty break with a nudge of his snout. You just need to watch his cues. He has not had any medical issues, he is sleek and healthy and his teeth are in good shape. He is crate trained but we never leave him more than 6 hours in it. He sleeps with us. He has been trained with an electric training collar and does well with positive training reward treats, he is very food driven. He will be protective of your residence. We are having to rehome Hank for aggression and competition with his littermate we adopted at the same time. Otherwise, we would not be having to make this choice. It is heartbreaking but we cannot keep both dogs as a safety precaution for their own wellbeing. He has never shown us aggression, just to his brother. His crate is included if you decide to open your heart to this silly, loveable, barrel chested, goofball. He dislikes swimming but will take a shower or bath from the hose with no problem. Loves to play in the sprinklers and with a soapy bubble machine. He is up to date on shots, except for the current rabies booster. Please consider this sweet, med/hi strung, debonaire lil ding dong. This is one of the toughest decisions of our lives but we can't take the chance on their safety.
