About Aspen

German Shepherd
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

PENDING ADOPTION: Aspen is a very spry long 10-year-old German Shepherd (85 lbs) who lost her home when her owner had to go into assisted living and the owner's family dropped her off at a high kill shelter. She is a healthy girl with no major issues except that her eyes need daily drops that she takes like a champ. So far as her foster mom I know she walks well on a leash and does her business within a minute of walking her. She is house and crate trained and learned how to use my doggie door quickly. She rides well in the car and prefers the shotgun position if available. She doesn't interact with my pack; she seems to just ignore them. The first month I had her she spent most of her time in my bedroom, back bedroom or in a crate away from most of our daily traffic patterns. Just recently she has started to spend a lot of time on the living room couch and when the weather is nice on my back deck or by the front gate watching road activity. I have not heard her bark, but she cries and moves her legs when she dreams. I believe since she lived her whole life with a man, and I believe no other pets I think she would be happiest with a man in the household and maybe no pets that would get into her face. She will eat treats before kibble dinner and didn't seem to like canned or raw dog food when offered. The best way I got her to eat dinner was to leave her bowl of kibble in the back bedroom or in her crate where my dogs couldn't get to it. She seems to be a grazer and not time driven like mine. I haven't seen her wag her tail much or get too affectionate when I rub her face or when I am petting her but that doesn't mean she won't one day. Aspen is a beautiful girl looking for her furever family. Could it be you. Please fill out an adoption application at www.rescueangelssomd.com
