Hello! We are looking to rehome Bugbear. She is a lab/dachshund mix and is around 3 years old. She is playful, intelligent, and very loyal. She always likes to be at your side. Bugbear loves running, tracking, napping in the sun, and learning tricks. She is potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. She has separation anxiety, mild fear aggression, and some territorial tendencies at the front door. We have been working with her on learning to be more independent, confident, and less anxious. Right now, she is on a couple of medications, one for allergies and one for anxiety. Her medications cost about 150 dollars a month, give or take. Bugbear does not like meeting new people, we rescued her from a Craigslist ad when she was about 1.5 years old, and we have struggled to teach her that new people are friends. We believe she needs a more experienced dog owner who can help her become more comfortable with new people. Unfortunately, we do not know what her past living situation was like, and since we have owned her, she has had some behavioral issues, namely, fear of strangers and pulling on the lead on walks. Fortunately, we know she can learn and that she can improve. Since owning her, she has made leaps and bounds with her anxiety. We believe she would benefit from a more experienced dog owner and a safe place where she can run. We live in a duplex, and her unpredictable behavior towards people has made it challenging to take her out to a public field. If you love working with intelligent disabled dogs and preferably have some property, she would be a wonderful companion, and I have nothing but confidence that with the right home, she will flourish.
