About Kiko

This is Kiko, he's a 1yr old frenchie. He was recently rescued from a situation where he was going to be used for breeding (and possibly has been used for breeding) and spent his entire short life living in a cage outside. He was relinquished due to the landlord stopping by and seeing he was kept in this condition and the landlord said no 'outdoor' dogs were allowed. We found a temp foster and he's now completely vetted: vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, bathed, and started on flea preventative. This has also given us a chance to get to know him and start working with him on crate training. Kiko is a bit needy, which is expected as he's never received much human affection prior to being rescued. He's dog friendly and would love to play but we can't really let him right now as he's still recovering from his neuter. He's discovered toys and loves them. He's doing amazing with housebreaking and really only has had accidents the first day but currently has access to go outside at will during the day. He does need work on the leash but is making amazing progress when walked solo. When walked with other dogs he gets very excited and pulls a lot. We are working on the crate training but going slowly as he does protest, he's lived his entire life in a cage so we are trying some counter conditioning so it's not something negative for him. His current foster was only a temporary situation to help us get him out of a bad situation and we now need to find him someone that's committed to fostering him until we find his forever home. With that being said we would be over the moon to for his next step to be his forever home. For fostering we are hoping to find someone in the San Diego area as we are a very small volunteer based rescue and just unable to offer the support a foster requires if it's out of the area. For adoptions we are open to homes out of San Diego. Please reach out to us privately if you are willing to open your home to Kiko temporarily or if you would like Kiko to become a permanent part of your family.
