ID ID #a5078446 - MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE, WEST- RESCUE ONLY (NHO) - NEEDS FOSTER TOO - 'CHARMIN' AKA NUBE, A 40 LB FEMALE CREAM CHOW GIRL, EST TO BE only 2 YRS OLD- FOUND AS A STRAY AND BROUGHT TO THE SHELTER, NOW ON DEADLINE FOR TO COMMIT. She is RESCUE ONLY for BEING SHY- which means she can't be adopted from the shelter directly, and WE NEED A FOSTER, FOSTER TO ADOPT AND OR A RESCUE TO SAVE HER. pls contact Robin with questions or interest, as shared posts and comments may not been seen. Emergency- soon to be euthanized per shelter notes! We are in urgent need of finding a foster and rescue for this sweet, petite female chow mix who was found with harness on in this extreme heat. A finder kept her outside in extreme heat and then brought her after a few days. No owner ever came forward. We are calling her Charmin, but the shelter named her Nube. Shelter notes state, 'THE FINDER WAS ABLE TO COAX THE DOG TO HER BY USING WATER. ONCE SHE RECEIVED WATER, SHE ALLOWED THE FINDER TO PET HER AND ALLOWED THE FINDER TO PUT HER IN THE BACKYARD. THE FINDER STATES THAT SHE HAS DONE WELL, BUT SHE HAS HER MOMENTS WHERE SHE HAS TRIED TO SNAP AT THE FINDER WHEN PLACING THE LEASH ON THE HARNESS'. Once at the shelter, Charmin has been a typical shy chow, but has been warming up to volunteers and approaching the kennel fence with no issues in videos we have. Charmin taking treats gently, and was excited to calmly greet a male dog at the fence also seen in videos we have. She showed no signs of aggression. Despite this, further shelter notes and recommendation state, 'Canine is showing defensive behavior in the shelter environment as well as defensive behavior around leashing in the finder's home environment. Needs placement with a New Hope Partner who can provide behavioral and post adoption support in an adult only environment by close of business 10/6/24. May be at risk for euthanasia 10/7/24 or sooner if warranted.' The shelter made her Rescue Only and now she can only be pulled by a New Hope Partner.
