About Rocky

I have a soon to be (November 11) 2-year-old Cattle Dog/Chihuahua mix who I've had since he was 3-months-old. He's honestly an affectionate and cuddly dog but in the past year, he has bitten 6 people, four bites broke skin, two bites have been reported, and one of those bites was a child. He let go immediately after each bite and did not attempt to bite again. All the bites were directed at males. Rocky has separation anxiety. He must be crate when left alone otherwise he will become destructive. He is a velcro dog and will follow you everywhere. He loves to cuddle. He is very nippy unfortunately but 99% of the time he's not doing it to hurt or injure. He destroys soft dog toys so I only give him durable ones. He is fully potty trained and will sleep in his crate whenever my son is home, but when he's not, he sleeps in my bed with me. He will go to his crate on command and will not cry or whine when left alone (but he may in a new home). He has boarded with cats and other dogs and did fine, but I would not trust him around small pets (guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, etc). He has done basic obedience training so he will sit on command, down, but not so good on stay. He is very food motivated and is a bit overweight despite dietary restrictions. He's currently on Wellness Simple Lamb only because my older dog has to be on a single course protein diet and it has to be lamb, so it's easier to keep them on the same diet and cost efficient. He has damaged the nerve to one of his canines but right now it does not seem to bother him but he may have to remove it eventually. He does fine at the groomers. He does fine with FEMALE dog walkers. He has been good at the dog parks. After consulting with the local ACO and our vet, Rocky's only options with me are expensive behavioral modification training, which I cannot afford (single woman, single income household, living paycheck to paycheck), rehoming, or euthanasia. I am BEGGING someone to save my dog so that he has a chance at a long, wonderful life with the right owner. I have health insurance I can transfer over if interested through Pets Best.
