Hello, My name is Bud. I am eight years of age and a unique blend of hounds and herding breeds as illustrated below. 26% Treeing Walker Coonhound + 24% Catahoula Leopard Dog; 22% rat terrier; 16% American Pit Bull Terrier 11% Blue Lacy. My mom found me in March 2018 at the Haven Humane Society Shelter in Redding, CA. I was very happy to be adopted by Alisa; she provided really good food, a lot of exercise, and she allowed me to sleep next to her throughout the night. Yes, I am spoiled and I appreciate my mom's love but she is no longer able to provide the exercise and attention I need. Her major back surgery (of plates and screws holding my vertebrae together) awaits until I am rehomed. It's unlikely she will ever be able to walk me again as I like to go a little faster than she can walk and I can get excited and pull her around. I am like the neighborhood watchdog because as soon as the gate is open, I am looking around assessing the new sites and waiting to find some people and other canines to herd into my space. I especially like to say hi and 'tree' my male human friends. They always have kind and gentle touches to share. A few years ago we had to return to Fremont, CA to become caretakers for my mom's parents. In doing so, my mom has reinjured her back and irritated her back's disease to the point that she is unable to care for my exercise and attention needs. We are both very saddened by this because we loved our walks/runs and sleeping together. As a result of lack of exercise and my mom spoiling me with all her food leftovers, I am now probably 20 lbs overweight and my muscles are atrophying, and I am only 8! The most exercise I get is chasing our neighbors' gardener's weed whacker up and down the fence on Thursday's and Friday's. It's just not enough for me. I've become a lazy dog and I know I have another 5-10 years of agility within me. I would really like to find a new home with other big dogs for me to play with, and any farm animals to herd would be fantastic fun and exercise. I love to run. I love to run, especially to human males! I'm not a fighter and hope you will remember this when I need to eat around other dogs. I may be shy initially and wont poke into my food unlessI feel welcome. I can always eat! I will nudge you with my big nose and even talk to you when I am hungry. My Likes: Movement: To walk - to chase - to ride in cars/trucks - I will bark for a minute or two when you leave in the truck/car to run your errands indoors. I 'm very happy to sit in the driver's seat to keep it warm. I will look really cute driving your car! Food: Raw meat, raw chicken breasts/legs/wings, and organ meat are my favorite food selections. I'm happy to take any of your leftovers and clean the plate before washing so nothing goes to waste. Sleeping: In my bed with my blanket or your bed is always better. Mom will buy me a crate or an outdoor superhouse if you're planning to keep me outdoors. Bones: Cattle or boar bones are great. Sunbathing! Herding / chasing squirrels and other critters, horses and cattle. My Dislikes: Water! I'm not keen on getting wet! When it's raining I will ask you to go outside with me. I'll run right back inside. My mom lightly sprayed me with the hose when I barked too much at the neighbors dogs and gardeners working along the fence line. Little dogs getting in my face! I would prefer to be with big dogs or just us. I have lived with three chihuahuas and find them annoying because My Gear: My mom will send along my foam bed, blankie, and my standing bed, my gentle leash, a Royal Paw Dog Tie Out Stakes with a 30 foot cable, a muzzle that I've never used, a couple different leashes, and ropes, plus more. Mom will buy me a house if you plan to keep me outside or a crate for the indoors if you prefer. Here are a few more photos but please don't judge my pudge because both mom and I are embarrassed that we are so under exercised. I stand 2' tall and I am 44' long from nose to bottom (not including my tail). My tail will make the normal side to side wags but if you say 'chicken' or 'hamburger' or 'ride' my tail starts its propeller tail circling round and round. Vaccinations: current Rabies: current and due 11/25 Neutered: 3/ 2018 Microchipped with Embark. My mom will provide more info if needed. Details will have to be updated and my mom is happy to take care of this.
