(DOB 08/28/2022) Never has a dog been more perfectly named than Sweetie! This adorable wiggle butt adores people of all shapes, sizes, and ages, and she's eager to find a loving family to share her sweetness with. While she may be a bit shy at first, she warms up quickly-just as long as you're not a scary talking Halloween decoration! Sweetie prefers a home without furry friends, since they don't have hands and can't give her the pets and treats she loves. She's a low-maintenance companion who thrives on your company and would happily accompany you on trips to Lowe's or the local brewery! She is also learning good leash manners. When you are back home, don't hesitate to give her some snuggles; she absolutely loves them! At home, Sweetie enjoys lounging with a chew toy or bone. She's still learning that tennis balls and sticks aren't food (not very nutritious, after all!), but if she gets a bit stubborn, you can gently take them from her-she'll give them up without a fuss. She does love a variety of toys and can be a bit of a toy hog; it's kinda cute to see her enjoying all of the toys available to her. She is also food and treat motivated so makes for training and learning that much easier. Sweetie would be fine in a home, apartment, condo or townhome without a fenced yard. She definitely a bit of a coach potato and prefers to be hanging out with you rather than running around in the yard. Sweetie enjoys visiting stores and other places that welcome dogs. She is fantastic companion in the car and happy to tag along wherever you go! Sweetie's foster family has 2 other dogs and 2 cats. With proper introductions and play monitoring, Sweetie is continually growing more comfortable and better behaved with a 'big' family; even so, we believe she would be happiest as an only dog in the home soaking up all the love, patience and attention one wants to share with her. Sweetie tends to be a follower, so if someone gets super excited or too animated during play time, she matches the energy level. In other words, she can misinterpret body and verbal cues from her 4-legged foster siblings - just something she isn't as familiar with, so she is learning along this new journey. Sweetie has been good with all children she has meet. Sweetie sleeps in her crate and likes her big soft bed in there. She is house trained as well and would love to be with someone who is home a good chunk of time each day. So if you work from home, etc. she'd make a great 'co-worker.' You'd have the best of both worlds...the privacy of working remotely while having Sweetie, the sweetest, as your work bestie! As part of Sweetie's $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email [email protected]. If you wish to adopt Sweetie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org.
