About Nala

I have had Nala since about 6 months old. My son had bought her for me as a birthday gift after my jack Russel died of old age and as I was living alone. She was great when it was just her and I. One day my son stopped over and he went to pet her as she was laying with me on the sofa and she growled and lunged at him with her mouth. He backed up and she tore his shirt off and he had scratches on his chest from her teeth. She is guarding her toys and chews and maybe me. She was fine when the cable guy stopped by and she was friendly with him. She has also snapped at my had twice once when I went to leash her to take her out. I didn't realize she was guarding her ball. She also snapped at me when I was petting her once when she was laying beside me and she had a toy. I have taken her to pet smart for some basic training that went well with her being near other dogs. But when my boyfriend brought his small dog over and it barked at her she attacked it and luckily we got her off before she did damage. I am trying to be clear and honest about her behavior. I have tried several times to surrender her to a local shelter but they can't because of her behavior. I'm overwhelmed tired and hopeless. My 2 adult sons moved back in and I've had to crate her more than usuall because I'm afraid she will bite them. I have an infant grandchild who is over a lot and a grandson. With all the news lately of dog bites to children I am terrified. Please I need to rehome her. She needs a better life with someone who has the time and financial means to get her proper training. She like walks and playing catch with a stick. She's very protective of her space.
