About BUCKEYE

Boxer / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Electro and who is now called Buckeye. Our young friend has been on a roller coaster journey with a positive end result and would love to tell you, his story. I am a white Boxer/Pit mix with one brown ear, around 81 pounds, 2-3 years old, male, and now neutered. I came to the shelter when my owner decided to drop me and another dog, but only one kennel was open, so he just unhooked me and let me run. Caught on video, I'm chasing my owner down the road and then a deputy must have been summoned and came to rescue me safely and put me in a cage for safety. After going through the shelters protocol and with no success in the owner coming forward, they took the responsibility to help me find my new home. The policy at the shelter is to have every dog tested for Heartworm and Lyme, vaccinated for DHLPP, Bordetella, and rabies and neutered. Unfortunately, my results were not so good, and I came back positive for Heart Worm and Lyme. The shelter can treat the Lyme but for those that don't know, Heartworm can be a very painful death sentence for a dog and the treatment can be costly. They posted the need for help and this very kind family offered to pay for my treatment. I stayed overnight at the Vet's office and was given the medication and treatment I needed. A volunteer was nice enough to house me for the 6 months (dogs that are heartworm positive need cage confinement, restricted exercise and rest). Thanks to the volunteer he made sure I followed the course of treatment, I retested negative, was neutered, learned a few commands, sit, stay, shake, house trained, and I love walks on a leash and car rides. I am ready to meet my forever family. If interested in meeting me, please call the shelter to schedule an appointment. I will absolutely not disappoint. 740-432-2219
