Birch's story is a sad one. She, her pups, and other housemates were all abandoned in an apartment in NYC, half-starved and in poor condition. Thankfully, intervention arrived, and they ended up at the ACC, where we stepped in. Birch was extremely thin, with patchy fur and dry skin; she was in the worst condition of all the dogs in that house. With good food, supplements, and lots of TLC, she is now back to a healthy weight and looking and feeling good. Birch gets along with everyone and everything, and she absolutely ADORES children. She is gentle with kids and respectful of cats in the home. She is a medium-sized girl, about 3 1/2 yrs old and weighing about 45 lbs. Despite everything she has been through, Birch remains loving and sweet. Birch knows a few basic commands, walks well on a leash (minimal pulling), and is good in the house. She is currently in a foster home near Binghamton. If anyone deserves a happily ever after, it is our sweet Mama Birch! All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary. Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies. Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. Please note we do not adopt animals into Canada.
