This is Duke. He is a loveable dog, with a litter-mate brother, Boone. Both boys are fairly easy to manage if someone has only dogs or no other pets. We rescued them from the City pound in February in order to save their lives. We dearly love them, but feel they would probably be happier with people who appreciate the giants that they are. I recently had Duke DNA tested and discovered that he is half Rottweiler. He is also 1/4 Great Pyrenees and 1/4 Anatolian Shepherd. Duke suffered a broken leg as a puppy and it was not treated. Unfortunately he has a heavy limp, which affects his ability to get out and play with his brother and other dogs. A couple of times I have watched Boone jump into the air and try his best to pull down a turkey vulture, as a flock of them passed over. Never have either of them ever damaged furniture or otherwise been destructive. They are fairly well behaved, though I doubt they were ever trained. I would like to think someone would take Duke to a veterinary teaching hospital and have his leg repaired, so he can get out and do more things. These boys are huge. Their size can intimidate people. In February, they weighed 145 and 138 pounds. I know they are heavier now. The vet examined them and said they appeared to be 2 years old. I listed them as good with adults but not children, simply because we haven't had them around any children.
