About Yumi

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. High Energy High Spirited 9 mo. Old puppy rescued in June 2024. YUMI (Japanese for 'Joyful/Happy Helper') was surrendered underweight, malnourished, unable to gain weight, showing all the signs of being neglected & not being fed. She also had a severe respiratory infection, that was not contagious thankfully. She is up to date on shots, spayed, and infection free. YUMI learns commands quickly, always eager to please. She gets bored easily, and will dig holes to china if not challenged with an energetic task. She is still doing 'Puppy stuff'; Stealing & chewing shoes, has a favorite wall to chew on. YUMI is a dog park favorite, but becomes a bit aggressive with play. This should be curbed immediately before she gets hurt by other dogs. She is not fearful of large dogs, thinking she is just as big. She would be great learning stealth Protection/Guarding skills, as she is very quiet indoors, even when there is a knock at the door, or the doorbell is ringing but only vocal when with certain dogs at the park. She has Herding qualities, loves to be chased & runs lightning fast. She can fetch, sit, place, heel, come, down, up, stay. I have been working to make her more desirable to adopt; knowing she deserves better than her start in life gave her. She is slightly pampered, can live indoors, but loves the outdoors, and is potty/paper trained. Uses a doggy door when she needs to use the restroom She is also wire crate trained. She comes with her favorite toys, her Cabana, bowls, two beds, her diet recipe, her supplement list (for her health continuity), her medical records. She loves children, but bigger children would be best because of her strength and high energy. She loves to run, would be great on a hike or jog. She is of medium stature, and will not get any bigger. She is a mini Dutch Shepherd Mix, very sweet, & has a loving cuddle bug nature. She has to be rehomed because of my health, and upcoming surgeries, & can no longer care for this little girl. If she is not picked up soon, she will go to the shelter, sadly, where they Euthanize surrenders quickly to make room for strays. Strange that it works that way. She is microchipped, but I was unable to rename the chip. Her former name was 'Sable' which is still on the chip I think. She is registered as 'YUMI' on the free registry
