This dashingly handsome gentleman is Kipling, an approximately six to seven month old kitty man who appears to be a mix of Maine Coon/Russian Blue and Domestic Mix. To date his life reads like a story out of his namesake's Jungle Book. A stray kitten in an area of Chesterfield County that is heavily populated by unwanted kitties born to non-fixed moms, the lot of whom spend their days and nights scavenging for food and shelter, their livelihood dependent upon humans who may or may not be their friends. Thankfully Kipling's extended family landed in the back yard of an elderly lady whose grand daughter began feeding his mother and her numerous previous litters. The granddaughter reached out to me for assistance in June of this year after watching a motorist purposefully run down one of Kipling's half-siblings and finding another one of his half-siblings deceased in her grandmother's back yard. On July 16, 2024, Kipling (and his four siblings: Austen, Bront, Thoreau and Whitman) became my wards. Super shy and fearful they let me begin winning them over little by little through food, lots of cans of tasty Fancy Feast and Tiki Cat, and reading children's books to them to familiarize them with my voice. Kipling was the first to decide he wanted to be my buddy. He now circles my legs at feeding time, so much so that I often almost lose my balance due to his enthusiastic greetings. When I sit on the floor to prepare the food plates, he hops into my lap, stomping around lovingly, head-butting me while looking up at me with his big golden eyes begging for pets and giving purrs. He so very much wants to break through the barriers and be somebody's best kitty man. Neutered on July 17th by my vet, Kipling combo tested negative for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. He has been rabies/distemper combo vaccinated and microchipped as well as dewormed and treated for fleas. He and his siblings currently live in a spare bedroom in my rental residence, where they enjoy playing with cat toys, especially plastic springs, jingle balls and fuzzy mice, and lounging on cat condos while basking in sun beams; a life every kitty should live. Kipling will require time to acclimate to his new home; patience and trust building will be critical. Food and kind words will win his heart and he will then be fiercely loyal to his new human. Kipling will benefit from having a kitty buddy, ideally one of his four siblings, if possible. If you are ready to take on the task of befriending this absolute dear gentleman please feel free to reach out to me. You will not be disappointed when precious Kipling returns your love for him tenfold upon your gaining his trust. It will be an ethereal moment etched forever in your memory. when possible like to receive a vet reference for potential adopters.
