We rescued Gertrude last November from the Lancaster Animal Shelter when she was roughly 12-15 months old. She was spayed by them early this year. She is very vocal in her needs and or wants . If she wishes to play she will bring you a toy and wants two polar tug o war. When you get home she gets all growly and gets her toy and is overexcited to see you. now she loves all people, but new people she just loves New people, but is jumpy to meet and gets mouthy, which means she holds you within her mouth and wants you to love her. She loves being in the backyard and barking at her friends next door, from when they start till whenever. She loves all kinds of animals, and enjoys licking our Guinea Pig. She has been crate trained for sleep, but she has a hard time relaxing to get sleepy, due to what seems like ADHD. She does nap during the day and will just chill with you, but later at night like 7ish she wants to play some more, and takes some time to recall. We have used CBD chews at night to help her wind down for bed time, which I give at 7:45ish at night. Then around 6am we are up so guess who's ready to go, yet Gertrude! All this being said my wife and I lost our 2 dogs last year and she really can't connect unfortunately with any animals, because I feel she's still grieving. I did push her to get another dog and well the last few months have just not gone well with that. So unfortunately my wife wants her gone. My wife calls Gertie a crack head. Gertie has so much love to give, but she does need more obedience lessons, especially with other dogs to play with. She loves other dogs, but tends to play pretty sloppy and rough which most don't like. When you ignore her she will let you know with her barking, and then will go. find a toy and get in your face with it. She is house trained, and loves her doggy door! She really needs a good home and will love you to no end!!!
