About Darla Mae

We are in desperate need of finding a home for our Darla Mae. She is a working dog and is not getting the stimulation she needs. Darla Mae joined our family this past May when her owner was moving and could not bring her with. She has been a loyal companion. She is a lover to all humans. She just wants to be near you and part of everything. We believe Darla is a mix of shepherd/pit - she might have some husky in there as well. We honestly don't know. But her energy levels, need for mental stimulation, and constant desire to be near humans leads us to think she's some combination of the 3. We are needing to rehome this sweet girl because she needs to be the only female dog in her home. We have 2 female dogs that she has grown increasingly aggressive toward, resulting in injuries. We are heartbroken, but our situation is unsustainable. We are crating and rotating, but with 3 dogs and a 6 year old, everybody's quality of life has diminished, especially Darla's. This is not fair to her. An active home, or a home with lots of space to run, is ideal for this girl. She would be an awesome outdoor adventure buddy, or even an agility dog. She LOVES to learn, is very treat motivated, and very intelligent. A home that will be able to keep up with her physically and mentally is very important. An experienced dog owner would be best for her demeanor and personality. We are lifelong dog owners and are completely wrecked by having to make this decision - we understand the commitment, training and socialization it takes to own a dog. We have done all of these things, and will continue to do these things, but we truly believe a new home is what is best for her.
