About PUMPKIN

Lab / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Hi. My name is Pumpkin and I was a breeder dog. I had no name and my body and spirit were broken. You may have seen me and the others chained outside in the big yard. Maybe you were in one of the cars that drove by. That's all I had to do all day. Watch the cars go by and hope that the man brought me food that day. He always brought water once a day, in the morning but sometimes I tipped it over by accident. That was my bad luck. The hot sun beat down on me just the same and my chain being so short, I could never reach the shade of the tree or even the bush. When I tried to dig myself a cool spot in the hard dirt my paws would bleed and hurt so bad. Then one day, one of those cars going by stopped. Two ladies got out and talked to the man that kept us. Then they walked around and gave a little food to all of us on chains. When they got to me, I gobbled it up fast so they couldn't take it away. They saw my bloody feet and my bones sticking out and noticed I was having trouble standing. One of them told the man I was sick and that I wasn't going to last long out in this heat. I think that's the only reason he let her take me. He said only I could go. Not the others. They picked me up and put me into the car. It was cool and felt so good. They fed me pumpkin bread the whole ride and even though I hurt all over, it was the best ride I ever had. That's when they started calling me Pumpkin! I had the feeling I meant something to them. They said they would take me to get help so I could feel better and they did. Now I'm all healthy and the nice people here at the kennel got me ready for a home. My bones aren't showing anymore and I'm never left out in the sun. They taught me all kinds of stuff so I'm real smart now (check out my video in the comments). They tell me that when I get a home, I'll always get good food and probably toys and treats and maybe even a brother or sister but best of all, somebody will love me and I'll be able to tell how much because if I make a mistake and spill my water bowl over, my person won't mind refilling it. Pumpkin is a 2 year old Lab/Pit mix who is spayed, has all her vaccinations and is ready to go home.
