Kaius's original owner posted him on Facebooks as free to a good home, when I went to see if Kai was compatible with my elkhound I realized energy and need wise we were not going to be a good match however after seeing how Kai was living I couldn't leave him behind. His owner had never had a dog before and worked swing shift, Kai was left in a crate for 13 to 14 hours at a time. The crate was meant for a small breed dog and he had a rodent waterer ziptied to Kai's crate, that was his version of giving Kai water. Kai was underweight, even under all the fluff you could see his ribs and he had feces in his fur. I brought him home without a second thought wanting to get this boy healthy and, on a schedule, so we could see what his personality is. Kai is strong willed and loving. He needs to either be an only child or one other dog his size and energy level. We believe he would do better with a male, he gravitates towards them more than females. He would make for a great running partner. He needs time, focus and attention. He needs his own person who can give him everything he needs. We love the boy but we're not the right fit for him and we want to see him go to a good home
