About Oscar

Adoption Fee: $100
Border Collie / Australian Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

We are looking to urgently rehome our Male 6 year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie. His name is Oscar, and we have had him since he was a puppy. We need to find the right owner to give him a second chance, they need to be experienced with the breed, reactivity and anxiety. He would be best with a single Male, no kids, no other dogs, or animals. He could be with a female, however he displays an extreme attachment/love that could lead him to feeling dominate over a female. He was this way with my wife. He needs alot of stimulation or needs a sport or something after he has settled down. It is very difficult to have to let him go, but we need to give him a second chance and do right by him and our family. Oscar is a very good dog, he just has alot of behavior problems in our home, in the right environment he could do alot better. He is very easily trained and aims to please. He has been through a board and train program and is E-collar trained. He is currently unfixed but needs to be fixed, which could help calm him down a little. He really is a love bug once hes relaxed and settled, he can play for hours and loves going on walks. He is dog reactive and people reactive and sometimes will bark at cars, after his training he did alot better but our home is just too over stimulating for him to help him focus on behaving all the time. He loves toys and tug, running, dog puzzles, lick mats, and laying in funny positions. He really needs to find the right situation to shine, we will be able to go into detail about his quirks and habits more when we have a true interest in him. *** On a very serious note not to take away from his benefits, Oscar has bitten a member of our family. *** My wife. He is a dog with a bite history now and we need people to truly understand that risk. He has shown signs of aggression due to his anxiety and his environment. The bite was due to him accidentally being stepped on but he is a herding breed and did chase the person and bit them deeply. It is not ideal to have to rehome a dog with a bite history, and finding people who want them, so that is why we are looking for the right person to give him a second chance. He is a beautiful dog and people may think oh I want that cutie but he is a working breed who needs alot of attention and work. If you are seriously interested in him please feel free to reach out for any questions or more information. Thank you.
