About Olive

Adoption Fee: $75
American Shorthair / Domestic Cat
Age: Kitten
Sex: Female

Beautiful Oscar and Olive had a rough start. At a very young age, their mother was taken by a coyote in a Pasadena neighborhood. Luckily, they literally fell into the backyard of a wonderful family who took them in and bottle fed them. Unfortunately, one of the family members has asthma, so keeping them long term is not possible. Because they were so lovingly raised, these gorgeous, vibrant 9-month old bonded siblings LOVE people and are extremely gregarious and affectionate. Oscar could be certified as a therapy cat. With their sweet faces, captivating green eyes and winning personalities these are two of the best cats we've fostered. If you're seeking two refined and cuddly companions to make your house a home, look no further! Olive is a beautiful, elegant princess made of butterflies and magic who wants to be your best friend. With her Audrey Hepburn-like big green eyes and dainty white paws, she embodies style and grace. She'll greet you by standing on her back legs requesting cheek rubs. She doesn't love to be picked up, but can't get enough of a lap cuddle. Her purr is so soft it's barely audible, but you can feel it through her soft cheeks. She speaks in tiny chirps and trills. Her fur is fine and soft, and she has the best posture. She's slightly less flirtatious than Oscar, but no less friendly and loves to be pet and cuddled. She has a cheeky side and has been known to pull pranks on Oscar. Oscar is a golden retriever wrapped in a weighted blanket and feels like chicken soup for the soul. An aspiring therapy cat, he's a gentleman through and through; his warmth and positive energy brightens everyone's day. A very dog-like cat, he's always content, and loves nothing more than to sit on your lap or chest, purr and look calmly and lovingly into your eyes. Tall, dark and handsome; charming, outgoing and sweet, he'll run to greet us at the door by rolling on his back requesting belly rubs. He loves to be picked up, held like a baby, cuddled and coddled and just melts in your lap. He has so much love to give. He starts in with his rich, velvety purr the moment he lays eyes on you. Oscar and Olive are available as a bonded pair. More info here: bit.ly/Oscar_Olive; https://www.instagram.com/molly__and__friends__/ -Health: 10 out of 10 - their coats are shiny and soft; they glow. -Size: 7 out of 10. Oscar is 13 pounds and Olive is 10. -Energy level: 6 out of 10. They get the zoomies and have energetic play sessions for 15-20 minutes a few times a day. They'll chase toys and wrestle with each other, but they're not the craziest teens we've seen. They will become calmer over time. They play solo and with each other, and crave interaction with you. They're young and highly curious, but not wild / aggressive. -Temperament: Even-keeled and calm. Gregarious and sweet. Always want to be in the room with you. Will be on your lap within 60 seconds of sitting. -Intelligence level: 8 out of 10. Very little bothers or worries them. -Vocalization rate: 3 out of 10 (they meow occasionally at mealtime, and when they want to be pet or play). -Volume level: 3 out of 10. Olive speaks in tiny trills and chirps; Oscar makes the cutest indescribable sound when he wants to be pet. They do get excited at mealtime but don't clamor for food. Not loud or annoying. -Family fit: Would be great for anyone - a single, a couple, a family with kids (perhaps even a dog.) They're very even-keeled having grown up in a family of five which included three teen boys. -Street smarts: mixed. Oscar will flop over for belly rubs for whoever walks in the door. Olive is a more circumspect; she'll observe new friends for 5-10 minutes until she deems them worthy of her charm. -Behavior: 8 out of 10. They're well-behaved, know the word 'no' and although curious, are respectful of verbal cues. They've been scratching-post and 'no-counter' trained, please expect to provide both horizontal and vertical scratchers and a cat tree for them. They currently sleep in a separate room with each other. -Athleticism: 7 out of 10. They have long legs and tails and have no problem jumping from a chair to a 10-foot mantel. When not in your lap, they tend to find the highest perch (for Oscar, usually the mantel and especially when I have zoom meetings.) -Grooming: No cats love grooming themselves more - 10-15 minutes after every meal is devoted to this. They do shed a little in the warmer months, but weekly brushing helps mitigate hair on clothing and furniture.
