***NEEDS FOREVER HOME*** Currently in the Treasure Valley Rescued from a homeless man beating him, healed, and now ready for his forever home! BUFORD is now a 1-year-old, 65-lb, joyful labrador retriever/shepherd mix ready to find his home. He has been living with a family with 3 small kids for 6 months. He is healthy, neutered and current on his vaccines. He will need lots of love, positive reinforcement (zero abuse), and more training. BUFORD likes to bond with one person. He should only be trained with positive reinforcement. BUFORD likes other dogs, as long as they have zero aggressive tendencies. He is better with smaller dogs and will likely do better in a home with no more than one other dog. Valerie 986-910-1052 BACKGROUND: I was traveling by car to see my Mom in Arizona. I saw a homeless man hitting what I thought was his dog. He and the dog were filthy, and the dog's nose looked like it had dried blood on it. I rolled down my window to assess the situation and realized quickly this guy was under the influence of something. I told him I was worried about his dog, he said, 'What dog?', I said the one you are holding, 'Oh he said looking down in surprise.' I said can I take your dog; I want to get him help, he paused, and said...'It would be better.' I jumped out of my car, loaded the dog in the back and called my niece to see which vet I could get him to be evaluated. We gave him a quick bath and got into Petsmart's Vet. I told the vet that he is not my dog, but I want to try to help him. Petsmart split the cost of the bill with me and scaled the dead skin off of his nose, X-rayed it, and told me it had been broken several times. They said if she did not get the caked-on blood off of his nose, the skin tissue itself would die. They thought that he was about 6 months old. They also believed his hip was healing from an injury. We named him BUFORD. Unfortunately, I could not take him with me, and the weather last January was terrible for driving. My niece said she would care for BUFORD until he was healed. For six months my niece with three kids under the age of 5 cared for this growing puppy.
