They call me Taco! I'm a 9lb, 6 year old chihuahua mix and my foster mom says I'm the sweetest silliest little guy! My previous owner surrendered me to a shelter and said they 'couldn't take care of me'. SBRET scooped me up just in time to keep me off the scary 'list' and I've been getting and giving so much love in my foster home ever since! I'm a pretty laid back and goofy dude. My foster mom is always giggling at my clownish ways and my silly sounds. I'm not very barky, or whiney but there are a lot of very expressive sounds I like to make, I get laughed at a lot. I love snuggling more than just about anything else in the world, and it's really important that my new family is good at belly rubs because I'll be begging for them all the time. As lazy as that might make me sound, I also get pretty excited to go on walks! I'm still getting used to my harness being put on, but once it's on I don't even notice it and I'm pretty polite on the leash. I also like soaking up the sun out in a securely fenced in yard. I might be a bit shy the first few days either you but in a nice quiet house with a sweet family who won't rush me, I should warm up quickly and then be your best for ever! I've been around bunches of dogs and when they live in the house before I get there, I love em! But at my second foster I was an only dog for a little while and I didn't really like new dogs coming to live at 'MY' house. I might be able to have a furry brother or sister but I know I would be pretty darn happy as an only dog. I would love if at least one of my people were home most of the time. To be honest I don't really like being alone. When my foster family has to go out they put me in a play pen even though I don't make any trouble when I'm free in the house. Really it just makes it a little easier for me to settle down. I yodel for a few minutes when I realize I'm alone before I take a nap so I probably shouldn't be in an apartment or attached housing. I also yodel when I can't follow you through the house, but I have made great progress in my foster home. Honestly, I think once I'm in my forever home and believe that my people will always come back, it will get easier to be left behind, but that might take a little while. I don't know what I think of cats, but Im pretty sure I could learn to live with them. I'm inconsistent with kiddos, some of them I like a lot and some seem to stress me out. I've never been aggressive but I would prefer to live in an adult only home. I used to ride in the car in my crate quietly but it definitely made me nervous, but my foster mom has been helping me learn that the car takes me fun places too and not just to the Vets. Now I can ride in a doggy booster in the passenger's seat and take a nap. She is pretty sure I would make an excellent adventure buddy! I'm also doing a great job with potty training! I haven't had any accidents in my foster home since my first day. I'll stand by the door to let you know if like to go outside. At night I like to sleep in the big bed under the covers. I like to tuck myself behind someone's knees or make a pillow of their feet. I can sleep in pretty late as long as you stay snuggled up with me. Overall I'm a pretty heathy guy. You might notice in my pictures that I have a bald spot on my neck and chest. That was a nasty infection that SBReT helped me get rid of. Although it's feeling good now, my hair loss just might be permanent but that doesn't bother me at all. I'm just a little picky about which harnesses I like because some are a little irritating to that sensitive skin. I'm also getting some regular medicated baths to help with the last little bit of itchiness, so my new family might have to help me out with that for a while, but not forever. I don't really love my baths, but I'll sit politely for them and I love going bonkers with the zoomies after my towel dry! I got my dentals done and my teeth weren't too bad! I'm UTD on shots and preventatives, microchipped, freshly neutered and ready to meet, snuggle and play with my new family! You can fill out an application for at SBRET.com
