About Pam

Adoption Fee: sponser
Boxer mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

We believe that Pam is around 7-8 years old, she is always overlooked here at the shelter for a smaller or younger dog. Pam has been at the Vinton County Dog Shelter for nearly two years and seems like she is starting to lose hope in finding her forever home. Pam is a very affectionate girl who enjoys cuddles and a soft bed. She is very gentile. We always give pam soft toys in her kennel, and she never tears them up, she loves to cuddle them. Pam us a very calm dog and she listens really well. She walks calmly on leash. Pam has recently joined us on outings to fairs and events and has done fantastic at meeting people of all ages. She is great in her kennel, though we can tell that she is becoming increasingly depressed to be spending so much time in it. When our second warden started in January of 2024 Pam had not had much outside time. The new warden took on the task of walking our dogs each day. Pam, at first, was terrified to go too far from the shelter, she would do one lap around the building and then desperately try to get back to the door. We believe she was afraid that she was going to be left behind again. Now that she knows that is not the case, Pam loves to roam outside and sniff the grass. We believe that Pam was once house trained, if she is allowed out twice a day, she never has a mess in her kennel in the morning. She very much tries to hold it until she goes out, unfortunately that is not always an option for our shelter dogs (they often only get out once a day for 5-10 minutes). Pam is selective with other dogs; we believe she just gets overwhelmed if they are too energetic. She tends to do great with calm dogs, especially males. We would be happy to introduce her to any dogs a possible adopter has, but she would be very comfortable in a one dog home. We are concerned for Pam's mental and physical health having been here so long. She is a happy, always smiling girl when she's out but seems sad in her kennel. Again, she is a very calm, gentile, older girl and just needs a comfy place to call home. Pam's adoption is sponsored so it will be free. This includes her vaccinations (except rabies), microchip, and we can help have her spayed once adopted. If you would like to give Pam a shot at the home she absolutely deserves, please call 740-596-9285. (you may have to leave a voicemail; we will be more than happy to call you back) Or you can email [email protected].
