This beautiful girl is the comeback kid! She came to rescue in%A0critical%A0condition. She had been thrown from a vehicle and suffered several broken bones in her pelvis-we weren't sure she was going to make it.%A0 She went into foster care unable to walk or even sit up, and to her foster mom's surprise.... she was sitting up the next morning and by the end of the first week, was able to stand. Fast forward 8 weeks later -%A0 she is doing puppy zooms in the fenced yard. She might not ever be able to walk great distances-her pelvis is healed, but her hind legs will always be just a bit wonky. This doesn't seem to bother her - she is always happy, always with the tail wagging following the other dogs in the house.%A0She is possible Mini Aussi or Dachund mix. Because of whatever nightmare she came from - she is shy at first with%A0humans, and her foster mom has taught her that hands aren't for hurting, they're for head scritches and ear rubs-which she loves. And even though she has every right to not like people - to her credit, she is the sweetest, and one of the most gentle dogs you'll ever come across.%A0 Melody will need an experienced and patient owner, one with another calm dog (Luna is a follower) and a secure, fenced in yard. Possibly older respectful children -%A0 but a quieter home.%A0 For the most part, she is house-trained - she's still a puppy, so she does need to pee more often, so she will go on a wee wee pad if given the availability-but she definitely likes%A0going outside.%A0%A0 As far as we can tell, the only command she has mastered thus far is 'sit' and will take a treat very%A0gently.%A0 We are working on 'come' - but when outside she wants to follow the other dogs. She is very smart so she is trainable,%A0loves toys and is a shoe stealer-she doesn't really chew them,%A0she just collects them along with her toys if they're not put away. She's never been leash trained - putting a harness on her is an Olympic event because she is convinced death is at hand and%A0will wiggle her way out of your arms like an octopus.%A0 Again, a home with at least 1 other dog who is confident and calm,%A0a patient caregiver and a secure fenced yard are her requirements. If you are patient and kind, the reward of this dog loving you, will be like winning the lottery-it has been a joy for her foster mom seeing her blossom into a fantastic dog.%A0 Melody will be ready for her new home after 8/19 when she will be spayed and receives all her necessary vaccinations.%A0
