We have been keeping her for about a year, trying to find her a permanent home, but without success so far. Her back story is long and complicated but boils down to she has been deemed too reactive to be taken by shelters/rescues we've contacted and does much better in the less stressful environment of a home. We have taken her to several trainers and are actively working to get her less reactive. She is improving, but she is still too much stress for our home, which is likely how she got dumped. She is a beautifully colored, high-energy dog who is very athletic and learns very quickly. She loves to play with balls, toys, cats, dogs, anything really, except for children. Like many Cattle Dogs, she is very reactive, particularly to things/people that move quickly or surprise her. She is very affectionate to her few people she claims but is very bossy and gets overstimulated easily. She needs someone familiar with herding dog behaviors and wants a high energy dog. She is about 2.5 years old and weighs about 40 pounds.
