About Reesie

REESIE is a 4 year old, 16 pound Chihuahua who was surrendered to rescue when his owner was not able to care for him. When he came in he had double cherry eye. This is something that we typically fix. Poor Reesie had a horrible time after the surgery because he was allergic to the sutures AND to the antibiotic he got to help with the allergy! He had a month-long recovery! The surgery initially appeared to be successful, but then the cherry eye reappeared in his right eye. We are not putting him through surgery again, and our vet does not recommend it based on his allergic reactions. Whoever adopts him should understand it's something he's always going to have, but it does not bother him and it is not a health issue. REESIE is a sweet, handsome boy! He loves to sit with his person and take naps next to then. He is a lover who loves to be petted, gives great kisses, and is a wonderful companion dog. Reesie gets along with all the small dogs in his foster home and has started playing with one of his foster siblings. Tug of War is a favorite activity and he likes playing with toys, too. He was in a home with other dogs and we think that would be great for him, but his foster mom thinks he would be okay as an only dog as long as he does not spend too much time alone. He enjoys playing with his foster mom as much as he likes to play with the dogs. He is not completely house trained but he's doing very well and is close! He needs more work with leash training and should have a home with a fenced yard. He enjoys going out and exploring the fenced backyard at his foster home. At night he sleeps next to him foster mom under the blankets. REESIE has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. MORE about REESIE: He has not been cat or kid tested. If there are kids in the home they should be older. He will bark at people coming in the house but it only lasts for a few minutes and then he's happy to greet them.
