About WEBSTER - NYC ResQ Dog

WEBSTER is a 65 lb, 2-yr-old pitbull who was either lost or abandoned on the streets of New York City, where animal control thugs cruelly darted, catch-poled and dragged WEBSTER to the city's high-kill pound. Despite his abusive handling, employees immediately noticed WEBSTER's 'wagging tail' and 'loose wiggly body' upon intake. WEBSTER's friendly nature was further underscored when he was 'taken for his assessment' and was described as 'seeking attention' and 'social with his handlers' who noted that 'he gently takes treats from handler's hand.' WEBSTER quickly became a favorite among the volunteers. Referring to him as 'this silly goofball,' one volunteer affectionately wrote that 'Webster [is] the sweetest, wiggliest, happiest little man on the planet. Playful, people loving, and just a youngster, he is a big bundle of joy!' Another volunteer who was promoting his adoption, wrote about WEBSTER as follows: 'Hilarious hippo alert! If you want to smile, check out the [YouTube] video on Webster's profile -- a viral sensation for fun! This young guy is simply adorable. With his smiling happy face, wiggly butt and wagging tail, Webster has quickly made friends of everyone he meets! He is curious about everything and eager to learn, and we think that Webster would make a great walking or jogging partner.' In spite of his positive behavioral notes from the kill pound's own employees and all the rave reviews by their volunteers who had a chance to interact and play with him, WEBSTER was scheduled to be killed - simply because that was easier for uncaring managers than finding a loving home for him. Decrying the unjustness of WEBSTER's cruel death sentence, another volunteer explained that 'he is now on the [kill] list for just being stressed at having to be cooped up 24 hours a day in a crate! He wants to PLAY! He wants to run! He wants to go on hikes and walks and all kinds of adventures with a deserving family!' Thankfully, a 501(c)(3) rescue group saved WEBSTER's life at the last minute and placed him in a high-quality boarding facility, where he now awaits a foster or adopter who can give him the loving home he truly deserves.
