About Snickers

Beagle / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hello, I would like to introduce you to Snickers, a loving and affectionate blonde Beagle mix who's looking for his forever home. At about 30 pounds, Snickers is what we affectionately call a 'Velcro dog,' always wanting to be near his human. Snickers has experience living with younger children, but due to his enthusiasm and tendency to jump, he may unintentionally knock over smaller kids. For this reason, he would do best in a home with children around 10 years old or older. We're not sure how he would respond to cats, as he hasn't been around them. He's ideally suited to be the only dog or to live with larger dogs. Snickers has had a scuffle with smaller dogs that tried to correct him, but he's not protective in a territorial way. He just likes to be first in line for treats, to get his leash on, and attention. He eats comfortably with other dogs and isn't possessive. Snickers is also house-trained with a doggie door. Snickers would be a perfect companion for a retired person or someone who works from home. He's fantastic in the car and enjoys walks, though he's more of a moderate walker than a long-distance hiker. He's also good on a leash-no pulling. When meeting Snickers for the first time, it's best to let him approach you on his own terms. Similar to how you might interact with a toddler, if you ignore him initially, he'll come over when he's ready. This approach helps prevent any nervous barking. If you walk in and act like he's not there, he'll just observe. However, if you approach him immediately without letting him get to know you, he may get nervous and start barking. Once he knows you, this isn't an issue. Unfortunately, I was only planning to foster Snickers because his previous owners were going to take him to the pound. It's been several months, and I haven't yet found his forever home. I was working from home in the past so it wasn't an issue, but now that I'm at the office daily, I'm not the best fit for him anymore. I already have my hands full with two geriatric dogs, kids, and my current work schedule. Not to mention, the kids are going back to school and we are starting construction on the house. There's too much going on at once and it's not fair to Snickers. I do not want him to develop bad habits due to these circumstances. He's adoptable and I want to be able to keep it that way. I'm unable to continue fostering him and will have to find a shelter. I've attached some photos of Snickers. As I mentioned, he's 30 pounds, walks well on a leash, loves car rides, and is affectionate. He would be great as the only dog in a household, where he could focus all his attention on his human. He'd thrive with someone who works from home or is retired, as he loves being close to his person-even if he doesn't need constant interaction. Is there any way you can help?%A0
