It is with a heavy heart we have made the decision to re-home our Australian Shepherd Willie. Born on the Fourth of July 2016 Willie was adopted when he was ten weeks old. Through many changes in our life Willie has been a wonderful pet. In the next few paragraphs, I would like to explain what makes Willie so special and our decision to re-home him. Willie is comfortable in different environments and is extremely loyal. Excitedly, my wife and I are expecting twins and are unsure of Willie's ability to adapt to babies in the house. Willie has lived in three homes with me during his life. When we first brought Willie home, he lived with three young men and was exposed to various activities and other dogs. Willie loves walks and the dog park. He has successfully met and gotten along with many different people and pets. Willie's second home was on a farm with me and my wife. Willie loves to spend time outside basking in the yard. Lastly, we moved into town where we have lived for the past five years. During that time, we adopted a female labrador retriever that Willie adores. The reason for listing all of this is to say that Willie is comfortable in different environments, and we are confident he will be happy in the home of a loving owner. In staying true to his shepherd nature, Willie is extremely loyal to the people close to him. He is always attentive to his owner's actions and moods. Willie is not professionally trained; however, he does listen well. He will sit, stay and return when called, and will not leave your side long enough to run away. Willie's loyalty and eagerness to protect contributed to our decision to rehome him. He is protective of my wife and our home and has reacted negatively to unfamiliar men and children. Willie always warms up to adults he has not met before but can become stressed with a lot of people coming and going. With this being the case, we believe Willie's ideal lifestyle is one of routine and consistency. A few additional facts about Willie include: - He does wonderful with dog sitters and has been boarded multiple times. - Willie was positively raised by crate training and is now given free range of the house during the day and at night. - We have never had a chewing problem with Willie. - DNA results for Willie came back as 60% Australian Shepherd, 36% Miniature Australian Shepherd, and 4% Border Collie. He was clear of genetic health issues and is currently active and healthy. - Willie does get anxious during storms and is so smart that he hides out in the bathtub. Thank you for taking the time to read about our dog Willie. As we enter a hectic time in our life, we feel this is the best decision for us and Willie. Our desire is for Willie to be in a loving home and for another person to experience the personality and loyalty of a dog we love very much.
