Hazel is a super sweet dog with residual survivalist behaviors from her previous situation. She loves time with the family and her foster siblings. She rolls over immediately to let anyone pet her belly. She is very trusting of humans and thrives off love and affection. She likes playtime with toys and basking in the sun in the yard. If you stop giving her all your attention, she does nip (not in an aggressive way), despite attempts to correct this, so she should not be in a home with small children. Hazel has a high prey drive when it comes to cats and squirrels. Her fur-ever home should be free of smaller animals. Hazel lives for car rides and pup cups. She will try to climb into your lap while driving so she should be properly restrained in the back seat. Hazel does have dental damage. She ground down many teeth trying to escape her former life. Hazel came to SSRR emaciated so she is eager to work for food which has been helpful in training but detrimental in leaving her unattended. If there is food on a table or counter and she thinks no body is looking, she will climb up and help herself. If you are in the room, she is well behaved. Hazel requires a loving, attentive home. A work from home, retiree, or doggie daycare situation may work best for her. Her new family will need to commit to continual work with her on manners and obedience. She is crate trained. She is now mostly potty trained but will have occasional accidents in the house. She is still a work in progress, but is incredibly deserving of holding a special place in someone's heart and home.
