About Pop

I rescued this guy 8/13/24 from a neighbor neglecting him after listening to him cry on a 4 feet chain for at least 6 months. He was not fed and was given minimal water with absolutely no affection. Covered in fleas and underweight, I've already gotten the fleas under control with capstar. Animal control FAILED HIM. They were called multiple times by multiple neighbors and still left the dog so here I am. I finally was able to talk the awful owner into giving him to me. I have 4 rescued dogs and one rescued cat in addition to my three children so keeping this dog isn't feasible for us. The dogs name is Poppa and he's an intact male approximately 2 years old. We have a vet appointment but I am concerned as this doggie has growled at one of my children so I've been keeping him strictly to one room with me, his crate or outdoors in our fenced yard. He has never shown aggression towards me and I suspect his growl was over fear. I believe the older man in his past home hit him. I've been searching desperately for a place to rehome this innocent sweet soul who deserves all the love. It's breaking my heart with how awful the epidemic of animals in need of homes has gotten so it feels odds are stacked against this boy. I really, really need to find a way to rehome him before something awful happens here at my home. I am willing to pay for his vaccines and neuter if that's an option. Please help him him!
