About Josie

Adoption Fee: $75
Border Collie / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

We are looking for a new home for one of our dogs, Josie. Since reaching the age of 3, Josie is not getting along well with one our other dogs. We have tried increasing excercising/training/enrichment, routine motifications, and medications. Nothing has helped the situation. We have decided it is best for everyone involved for her to go to a home with no other dogs. ***Josie needs an experienced adopter who understands or has researched the needs and tendencies of her breeds. She needs a home where she can be active and spend a lot of time playing or excercising outside. Even though she has been good around our child and our nieces/nephews, we believe she needa a home with no children or older (teenager and up) children.*** About her: - border collie/mini aussie mix - about 30lbs - FULLY DEAF and partially blind in one eye - 3.5 years old (we have had her since she was 5 months old) - loves attention from her family - balls are LIFE! She is a natural fetcher and can fetch balls all day long! - loves playing in water - loves hiking and is a good running partner - has a goofy and cute personality - house trained - leash trained - crate trained - knows about 20 behaviors What she needs from a new family: - a home with no other dogs, she is scared of dogs she doesn't know and has started to not get along with one of her siblings (I believe our issue may be a dominance issue, I cannot pinpoint any triggers to the behavior) ALSO no cats - needs to he worked! She is a mix of 2 herding breeds. She has a stong need for mental and physical stimulation. She needs training and puzzle feeders and excercise, etc. - She is not a cuddle dog. When her needs are met, she will cuddle with you on the couch or bed for a little bit. She is a velcro dogs though. She enjoying laying right next to your legs/feet when she rests. - mostly indoor dog that spends a lot of time outside She had her annual vet visit on 7/22/24 and is up to date on all her shots/medications. She is spayed and microchipped.
