About Maggie

Lab mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

We have struggled with this decision because Maggie is a very good dog. To know her is to love her. She is eager to please and is a great watchdog. She's great on walks and hikes, on leash or off. She lives with 5 cats and has never hurt one, but she isn't really friendly with them either. However, she cannot live with other dogs. She has 'redirect aggression' where an outside stimulus will trigger her to attack her friend. Weeks or even months can go by without incident, and we let our guard down, but an unexpected noise outside will cause her to turn on our other dog. He has become very anxious and is covered in scars. Maggie has to wear a muzzle most of the time and she hates it. Two years ago, new neighbors moved in who love guns and explosives, so the situation worsened considerably. Maggie is extremely loving and personable and she absolutely adores children. She'll let kids climb on her, dress her up, poke and prod her, she enjoys it. She loves stuffed toys and playing fetch. *We have tried CBD and Prozac, and have sought help from veterinarians, and we are out of ideas. She would be happier as the only dog and a family with kids would be an ideal fit. Also, she is obviously mostly Black Lab, but has something else mixed in. We adopted her as a puppy.
