Adoption Fee: $550
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Say hello to Crikey formerly known as Loki, this young man is quite the looker and although he is only 8 months old he already has a lengthy story. Crikey ended up in the shelter due to his previous owner's failures after it was reported he had bitten one of them on the foot & was not being properly cared for by the spouse. Crikey lived tethered in a backyard per the owner and had very little handling. While at the shelter he got quite ill and due to the contagious nature of his illness, worsened condition, and labeled as a bite history pup getting adopted was not looking good. Luckily on July 2 he was pulled from the shelter by EFHDH and taken into a foster home. Crikey is your typical young pup that had no boundaries training and just doesn't know right from wrong. He is very smart, willing to learn, and has so much love to give. He has made strides in such a short time with my family from recovering from illness, learning to not use his mouth to get attention, meeting farm critters, bathing, nail trims, interacting with little humans, and so much more. He has an extremely high play drive and is learning how to act around others still. Learning leash manners and basic commands is going well, especially when treats are involved. He has done well around my two young children ages 4 and 6 but does get overly excited when they run or make loud noise. He has shown some cage aggression towards men and kids but does fine with them once out of the crate. This has been on initial meeting but once introduced out of the cage is perfectly fine with them after. I do believe it is more of a fear-based reaction because he is trapped and wants to seem big. Crikey has met cats from a distance and does react unfavorably as he barks and pulls on the leash trying to make chase in an unfriendly manner. He has met other dogs and has shown lots of playbows and friendly body language. He is crate trained and does well when out in the house but will find anything he can to make into a personal play toy. Play is the number one priority in his mind but he also likes to settle in for a good rub down and cuddle. Although Crikey may be a smaller guy he has a huge heart and so very much love to give.
