*Please read complete bio before applying.* Benny is a 2 year old neutered male Golden Retriever at around 65 pounds. There are a lot of good things to say about Benny. He is house and crate trained. He loves to play with other dogs. He's fine with the cats in the home. Benny likes a toy box near the back door so he can grab a toy or ball on his way out the door. Benny enjoys a few tosses of his ball or toy before he goes off and enjoys his outdoor time. Water is his absolute favorite pass time. He loves a small tank or pool to splash and play in and would be great in a large pool or even the lake and may even be good for kayaking. Benny loves the ladies. Benny does walk on leash but true to his size he can pull his human around. Benny can benefit from some continued obedience training to fine tune his loose leash skills and other basics. Benny has been in two homes in his short life and really needs a consistent home to give him the time to gain trust and confidence. He does have some aversion to men. This means Benny needs a female only home with no male visitors or family that does not want to take him a lot of places and is willing to give him the space and time he needs to learn to trust. Benny does give cues that he's uncomfortable but they can be subtle and a new owner would need to be aware of these. To ensure Benny has the most success in his new home potential adopters need to live within the OKC Metro area and need to be willing and able to continue to work with Benny's trainer so that guidance and support can be provided to help make his transition to a new home more successful. Benny's new family needs to be willing to continue his muzzle training so that he can continue to meet new people and go into new places and situations with confidence for both he and his handler. It is believed that Benny has had some aversive training in his past and this has been what has led to his uncertainty of men. His new home must be willing to absolutely not use any type of electronic training / fence / bark collars or devices. Only positive reinforcement training. A fenced yard is important so he can run and play and explore. He also must have a doggy playmate in the home.
