About Ada

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Ada! She is a 1 year old spayed female Australian Shepherd with bat ears and a tail. She was returned to me after her previous family's teenager unintentionally traumatized her and she then failed to male progress and regain trust with them. There was no aggression on either side at any point, just an accident that left her spooked. Ada came from a farm where she was born and spent the first 8 months of her life with no training or socialization. Because of this she is shy of new people and behind the curve. Despite this Ada is easy to live with and overall a pleasant dog. She does struggle with some separation anxiety, because of this she must be crated in a plastic crate not a wire one, at night she sleeps in the bedroom in an x-pen but could probably sleep outside of it if shut in the room. She will on occasion put her paws up on the counter to be nosey but has never grabbed anything off of it, she just wants to see what's up there. She is a sock thief and will chew holes in the toes. She's quiet when the other dogs bark but will bark when someone first comes in the house. She has low food drive and medium toy drive. Ada is not a sports prospect she would do best in a quiet home with someone that just wants a cuddle buddy. A fenced in yard would be ideal since she has never known anything but a fence. Ada will chase the cats in the home when they run but doesn't hurt them and stops when corrected, just typical herding breed behaviors. She lives with 2 females (spayed) and 3 males (2 intact 1 neutered) without issue. She does prefer male dogs over females and will take longer to warm up to other female dogs in the home. She very very recently has developed some crate anxiety which we are working on. We crate trained her when she came home and never had a problem here or in her previous home. She has been back with me for a month without issue but just woke up one day and decided that it's not OK anymore. We're back to working on it and I'm confident she'll make progress.
