About LUDO

We rescued Ludo from a shelter on March 19th. He is a very loving dog but it's apparent that he has some type of history of abuse/neglect. Ludo is very submissive to the 'alpha' adult in the home, however; he has a lot of jealousy issues when children are around and acts out. He does well with other dogs as long as there isn't a human interacting at the same time - then the jealousy issues surface & he begins acting out toward the dog & trying to interfere with any human interaction. I have three children who he is very loving with, but as I said - he has a lot of jealousy issues. I've found that he's very intelligent but also very stubborn & listens when he feels like it. I have had incredible issues with successful potty training, however; he's very aware that he should be going outside - it seems like he uses potty accidents as a form of acting out. The shelters in the area will not take him. He has a very short term, temporary, placement currently & is doing better in that environment: mostly outdoors with very restricted access indoors, adults only and on opposite schedules so no real opportunity for jealousy. He does well with the dog there when it's only the two of them playing & shows no aggression toward the cat that lives there, but has very little access so I'm unsure of how he would be with a cat in close contact. I am running out of options to rehome him, but would love for him to be with someone who has the experience to help him be successful & recover from whatever he's experienced in his past.
