Adoption Fee: $350
Boxer mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 6-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and crate and house-trained. As his foster parent, he LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that if he is off-leash in a safe place, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. This amazing already trained pup been with us for a while--why you wonder? He doesn't do too well with strangers. **IMPORTANT - his new forever family must understand that he is not likely to quickly adjust to being around strangers/new humans or crowded places. Blitz needs an owner who is going to be fine with this, even for the remainder of his life and has a lifestyle that would fit what Blitz needs. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers intentionally slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introverts? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands that he is NOT fond of people he doesn't know, and will take intentionality and time to grow safe with a new person. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parent(s)! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! We know you're out there! Instagram Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
