We found Oatmeal on the street on October 23, 2023. She was covered in her own urine, very skinny, and clearly neglected. We took her home and have been training her, helping her decompress, and try to fit in with our other rescue dog and cat. Oatmeal has been trained to walk on leash, to sleep and enjoy being in her crate, and is getting better at 'wait' and 'drop it'. She can walk near other dogs and depending on the situation, can play well with others. However, she has bitten our dog inside the home twice, and lightly nipped two people. We think these behaviors could be easily managed by someone who doesn't have another dog in the house, and only interacts with dogs on walks or after a long warm-up period. We truly think Oatmeal is loving and affectionate to her people, and can be an incredible dog for a one dog household. I think if the new owner is comfortable muzzle training her to slow introduce her to friends and other dogs, she'll be calm and happy, and successful.
