About Ranger

Derpty derp, Ranger alert! Ranger is a goofy, playful, awkwardly big, 5.5 month old German Shepherd mix. He joined MHCR from a small, rural shelter in Texas. When Ranger was found, he had a tiny collar around his neck likely from when he was a young puppy. It was deeply embedded into his skin and when it was removed a horrible wound was revealed. Ranger did nothing but lick faces and wag his tail while his wounds were tended, too. His resilience is why we've all come to adore canine companions. He's nearly fully healed now and has joined a great foster home where he plays with canine friends, hangs with the human toddler, and is even trying to build up his courage to befriend the cat (they're scary, ya know)! Ranger is crate trained, seems house trained, treat motivated, and enjoys prancing around like a gazelle - albeit without the grace and with bigger feet. There's not much to love about this big boy and we're sure you'll agree! He's already 35 lbs and we suspect he will grow to be over 75 lbs.
