Zoey is a beautiful Golden Irish, a unique blend of Golden Retriever and Irish Setter, and she's looking for her forever home. Her personality is more like her Setter ancestry-energetic, intelligent, and incredibly loving. Zoey's favorite activity is chasing a ball. She'll need a home with a yard and someone who can let her run and play off-leash at least once a day. She thrives on this exercise, and it's the key to her happiness. About Zoey: - Breed: Golden Irish (Golden Retriever and Irish Setter mix) - Age: 5 years old but still has puppy energy - Personality: Loving, intelligent, energetic, and playful Special Needs: Zoey is a reactive dog with resource guarding tendencies. She is sensitive about her personal space, especially during grooming at home or when applying medications. She takes daily anxiety medications, which help, but she often needs assistance in regulating her anxiety. She also has allergies controlled with daily medication. Zoey would not be a good fit in a home with another dog due to her resource guarding tendencies. She has had limited interactions with cats, and we are not sure if that would be a good fit for her either. Training: Zoey has been working with dog behaviorist, Lynne Gilbert-Norton and will need to continue this special training in her new home. Her current family is committed to funding this training to ensure a smooth transition and continued progress. Why We're Rehoming Zoey: We are heartbroken to part with Zoey, as she is a beloved member of our family. However, we are moving to Japan and expecting a baby, and we believe this change would be too stressful for her. We want to do what is best for Zoey, ensuring she has a stable, loving environment where she can thrive. Due to her resource guarding tendencies and reactivity, we also do not think Zoey is appropriate for a home with small children. When Zoey is triggered, she may growl, snap, lunge, and bite. Most bites have been minor tooth scratches. What Zoey Needs: - A home with a yard for her to play and run - An experienced dog owner who understands her special needs and is committed to continuing her training - Someone who can provide plenty of love, patience, and a structured environment What You'll Get in Return: Whoever has the pleasure of welcoming Zoey into their life will be showered with love, kisses, and countless snuggles. Zoey is incredibly affectionate and will follow you everywhere, always wanting to be by your side.
