About Captain Rex

Adoption Fee: $150
Australian Cattle Dog / Chow Chow
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Captain Rex is the sweetest boy looking for his furever home. The most handsome Chow mix (he's been DNA tested) with a glorious black fluffy coat, black spotted chow tongue, the cutest fuzzy 'grinch' feet, and stacked on the most adorable short legs! 19% Australian Cattle Dog and 18% Chow Chow with about 14 other breeds mixed in. He was found running up the road during Covid in bad shape. Doctors guessed he was about 2 in 2020. When he was found he was skin and bones, had a testicle that had not descended, as well as a hernia. Two surgeries later and a whole lot of love he's better than ever and has been the healthiest boy. He's had his shots before but needs to be brought up to date, he is GREAT at the vet. He has had a lady dog friend before so he could get along with some guidance with another dog as long as they aren't too dominant. He's just the best boy, knows sit, lay down, paw, puts himself in a room voluntarily for dog switches and is just gentle and sweet with his current mom and all her friends. Captain Rex loves to just be a part of things, he'll sleep on the coach next to you but also loves just being outside alone running around a yard. Amazing walker, he's the best/easiest dog on a leash. Love's his chew toys and food. He's the most playful boy but also will just take a nap in the same room as you for the company or even take a nap in the the other room just because. He is THE best guard dog, his bark is definitely worse than his bite though, he thinks he's tougher than he is. He's really just the biggest lover. His current mom has been doing her best to try to get him more socialized but already has two dominant male dogs going on 12 and 8 and one of them does not get along with Captain Rex. At the time Captain Rex found her she was in a long term relationship who promised to help try and bring the home pack together but that help never happened. Soon after he ended things and left her to care for all the dogs and cats alone, which was already stressful with two dogs and two cats. Soon after she lost her house and had to downsize. Another year later she's recently lost her job and has to downsize again at the end of August when her lease expires. Looking for a home for this loved buddy asap as she fears his gentle soul won't do well in a shelter. If you're looking for a best friend look no further, he's as loyal as they come, cute as can be and a genuinely sweet boy.
