About Yoshi

Yoshi is truly such a good boy. He sits and waits for his dinner until you tell him OK, he loves tug of war, loves to swim and play fetch (which are 2 things most Akitas won't do) and he will protect his pack to the bitter end. We have taken him to the groomer about once every 6 months as long as we have had him and he does so great for her. He unfortunately does not get along with most other dogs unless they are very submissive to him. Right now he has a Malamute sister that he gets along with very well but outside of her, he has fought almost every other dog he has come in contact with. He has been raised with kids and has always done great with our kids, but the reason we have to rehome him is that he bit an 8 year old girl in the face causing her to have to get 24 stitches. It was not his fault at all, he was confined and in a very stressful situation. That being said, I can not recommend that he be allowed around children. He can be a little leary of people he doesn't know, particularly men, but he is very food motivated and as soon as you give him a treat, he will be your best friend. I seriously can not express enough what a good, sweet, loving, loyal boy he is and how much the biting incident was not his fault.
