Courtesy Posting: FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT - 'SUKI' STUNNING, 4.5 YEAR YOUNG, 60 LBS, SPAYED CHOW GIRL NEEDS A LOVING FOREVER HOME! OWNER IS ILL & HAD TO MOVE! FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT - 'SUKI' a spayed and beautiful AKC chow girl needs a new home due to owner's health and move - please no negative comments as owner is asking for help to find a great chow home. Pls contact Robin with adopter interest. Loving and responsible new home needed for this beautiful chow named Suki who is now just over 4.5 years old and weighs 60 lbs. Chow experience requested. Her owner adopted her as an AKC puppy and loves her very much. However, the owner has moved into a new home with no yard, and has medical conditions that makes it difficult to walk her, and has made this difficult decision to find a new home. Suki is potty trained, and currently taking only two walks a day to potty due to owner's condition. She no longer has a yard to play in and would ideally like such. Her owner says, 'She is VERY playful and loves her toys. She loves to fetch and have her toys tossed or tugged. She can be left alone at home without any incident or destructive behaviors. She will mostly sleep while left alone. She would do well with someone who has experience with Chows and is interested in continuing her positive dog training. She knows and follows many commands and is still learning new ones! We are working on her leash-walking skills, but an enclosed outdoor area that is secure for her to run and play would be preferable.' Like many chows, Suki 'loves her people' according to her owner, but is shy and a bit nervous around new people initially, and does not like to be overly touched. Thus, she is not be recommended for homes with younger children. However, Suki bonded with a new male in the home, and has never bitten a person per her owner. Her owner says, 'She has clearly displayed the ability to love and trust others if she is given time and patience to get to know them. She is particularly fond of men. She has had little exposure to small children.' According to her owner, 'She has had positive interactions with dogs who she has come to know on numerous occasions, both in our home and in our previous yard running and playing off leash. Suki is however shy of dogs she does not know.' She did however have an altercation with a small dog last year that was off leash and ran at her. The owner can provide further details and did seek guidance from a behaviorist. Suki has also been raised since a puppy with a cat she will lick at times, but does not want the cat touching her food or water bowls, and will sometimes even herd the cat. If you have another pet, a meet and greet would be highly recommended, and a slow introduction. We do not know if she will be safe with a new cat. Suki likes car rides, and has been fine at the vet who said she did very well, but did require some medication, and does not enjoy going to the groomer (so they have bathed her themselves). She is fully vetted and received training when she was a puppy, and knows many commands. As a plus, Suki has pet insurance that is transferrable to the new owner, and no reported medical issues other than she is allergic to chicken. If you are interested in adopting and meeting Suki, a virtual homecheck, vet reference, and application will be required before approving any homes. Chow experience is requested.
