Courtesy Posting: CODE RED/EUTH LISTED as of 7/29, 72 HR WARNING! FOSTERS AND OR ADOPTERS and RESCUES NEEDED FOR EACH OF THE 4 YOUNG CHOWS, RESCUES ALSO NEEDED. DOG FRIENDLY WITH SIBLINGS/KENNEL MATES AND NON REACTIVE TO OTHER DOGS- both males and females available. Pls contact Robin or SCCCRN if you can help. Rescues need a foster in California and or local to a willing rescue. Riverside Shelter, San Jacinto location, So Cal - ID #A1807821 - 'Rose' a red female chow puppy who is estimated to be 10 months old and weighs 35 lbs. Here is her listing link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/RVSD3/A1807821 HELP!!! FOUR YOUNG, PETITE CHOWS (2 MALES AND 2 FEMALES) WERE CONFISCATED AFTER BEING DUMPED AND FOUND ROAMING. HELD UNDER A CONFISCATE CASE with a SUSPECTED OWNER. THEIR HOLD EXPIRED 7/28, OWNER NEVER SHOWED, AND ALL FOUR DOGS WERE CLEARED ON 7/29 TO BE AVAILABLE TO ADOPTERS OR RESCUES. SADLY, THEY WERE ALSO ADDED TO THE RED (EUTH) LIST THE SAME DAY DUE TO SAID MEDICAL NEEDS. THE SHELTER GIVES ONLY 72 HRS BEFORE EUTHANASIA FOR RED LISTED DOGS. THIS SHELTER IS OVERFULL. WHILE WE ARE DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR CHOW SAVVY, RESPONSIBLE FOSTERS AND RESCUES FOR EACH, THEY CAN ALSO BE ADOPTED with a medical waiver and SEPARATELY (however a rescue can assist with medical needs, particularly for the girls who need entropion surgery, so it is best to go through a rescue) Per the shelter, Rose is 'less social of the girls but still easily handleable - not leash trained but was able to safely leash muzzle and carry, appear tolerant of other dogs and didn't show any indication of being dog aggressive. Did not have a trusted helper dog available to do a one on one dog to dog'. She is currently kenneled with Scarlett from this group. The Shelter noted she 'Needs rescue medical due to Entropion in left eye.' We would seek to pair interested parties to adopt with a rescue to assist with medical needs, if someone is not in a position to adopt and treat on their own. All four chows are small, ranging from 35 lbs to 42 lbs, but may all be bit underweight and ages 10 months to 3 years old. We believe this family was dumped by a backyard breeder. They came in on a leash, so clearly they could be handled from day one, but some have been a bit more shy than others as is typical of the breed. The shelter has not noted any aggression in notes they gave us. The two males have been kenneled together, and the two females have been kenneled together, and shelter says both sets are 'doing well together'. We have given them all names accordingly. For those who know chows, being scared or shy in a shelter is common, and these dogs are expected to warm up even further outside the scary shelter environment. However, these dogs are on a short deadline to exit and find homes or fosters and rescues asap for each dog. Therefore, please contact us asap if you are interested to foster, or foster to adopt at: [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist with their placement. We also need likely need help with transport and anyone who wants to donate towards their medical and rescue. Please also contact us if you are wanting to adopt directly from the shelter, but please also contact the shelter and provide their ID and use their listing link to note your interest. Riverside shelter may also be reached by calling (951) 358-7387. Rescues may email: [email protected] and note the ID(s). We will be posting additional pictures and videos we have, along with updates, on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/10165639973318125 We will be posting additional pictures for all four dogs, their listing links and video once we receive such, and any updates on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/10165616716993125 Note: to view the contents of the links you will need to copy and paste each one separately into your browser.
