Whether she's sprinting around the yard or lounging like a queen after a good run, Derby knows how to enjoy every stride and every snooze. With her gentle demeanor and eagerness to please, Derby aims to win the hearts of her humans with every wag of her tail. And let's talk about her social skills - Derby isn't just horsing around! She loves the company of other dogs and is always up for a playful romp or a friendly sniff-off. 'Derby here, I spent last week with a family while my foster parents were out of town and got to experience some new things! First- they had this tiny black creature called a 'cat' I have never seen before. I was curious and would try to follow the cat but stopped when I was told to. Every now and then the cat would play with me, but I was able to redirect and just sniffed him. They also have an older Dane who sleeps a lot, so I left her alone. �%A0The 2nd new adventure I had was with these tiny humans called 'kids' (ages 4 & 7) who were very active. I followed them around the house and in the backyard while they played. I gave them lots of kisses and sniffs. I really liked to follow the mom up and down the stairs and laid in her office while she worked and on the kitchen mat. I really like to be around people so anytime someone changed rooms I had to follow. I'm still working on leash manners but really love my walks. We met a few dogs along the way but I really wasn't interested in them.' Derby and her two littermates, Cowboy (adopted) and Willow (available for adoption and located in the Atlanta area) were surrendered to the shelter by their breeder when they could no longer care for them. Derby is spayed and UTD on vet care, vaccines and preventatives. She is currently in a foster home in the Atlanta GA area. We adopt NATIONWIDE but require adopters to travel to the foster home with their current dog/dogs (to ensure they will be friends) to pick up. Out of respect for our foster family's time and privacy, we do NOT arrange meet and greets without an approved application on file.
