(*Links to more photos/videos at bottom of post) Never did we imagine this regal girl would be in foster for so long. She's a once in a lifetime kind of dog. We put in her description that we think she'd be best as an only pet in the home...but that doesn't mean she is dog aggressive. What we meant was, many people have dogs who are dog friendly but may not have the true sensibility, social skills and ability to pick up on clear but subtle body language/cues from other dogs. ROSE can live with other dogs who are truly well socialized and who understand doggie dynamics. (See ROSE with other dogs in comments below) ROSE is about 3-4 years old, Shepherd Mix and weighs about 55 lbs. She has so many qualities in a dog that most of us look for when choosing to adopt: ӕ%8F Quiet (Never Barks) ӕ%8F Low Energy (is mostly a couch potato) ӕ%8F House Trained ӕ%8F LOVES her family ӕ%8F Loyal ӕ%8F Affectionate ӕ%8F Easy to walk She 100% lives for her family, and her gentle and affectionate demeanor is absolutely heartwarming. Her weariness towards strangers is the other thing that is getting in the way of her getting adopted. This is a work in progress (we will take a few videos to better illustrate the behavior). We truly believe she will overcome this with some more practice. She seems to be friendlier with new people out in public, but on the home front she is more protective of her loved ones and her personal space. Still surprisingly she does not at all act like a guard dog...doesn't bark, doesn't alert of a stranger walking by, doesn't get anxious. She just doesn't want to be physically handled by strangers and if they push her beyond her comfort level she will give warnings (like a low growl) not to come any closer. That's it. She watches strangers closely and checks in on her loved ones, and because of this...she needs practice with meeting new people (gaining confidence in strangers) or just simply needs to be put away when people come over. ROSE is so smart, happy, patient, eager to please and SOOOOOO grateful for every spec of love she gets...and she is SO easy to take care of! Located in private foster in CT. Spayed/Vaccinated.
